Jacob is a Dutch artist living in Hove who sculpts primarily in wood. He mixes his own pigments with linseed oil to make the paint. The original pigments have been bought from a traditional windmill in the Netherlands. The paint is applied following the contours of the sculpture.
Jacob creates sculptures that stand by themselves but in a fragile, precarious way. Often his works deal with the challenge of creating a balance between the way the weight is distributed and using a minimal floor surface.
He studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths, London and has had exhibitions in Amsterdam, London, Hastings and Brighton. Further examples of his work can be found at www.jacob-frerichs.com
