Kim, il-yong’s lifecasts can be seen in Encounters by Appointment

South Korean Artist il-yong Kim has fascinated many visitors this year. His ‘lifecasts’ are directly taken from life, with all of its beauty and (some would say) uglyness but these casts have a strange beauty in themselves. Moments of truth are captured and they become frozen  – speaking to us from a time and place of which we are unaware but with which we become somehow connected.The photographs below are from his work exhibited in Encounters’ Gallery Room this year.
